Hello everyone, my name is Joe and I have a 2016 Silverado 1500 LT 4x4. I just hit 100k miles last week and my truck decided it didn’t want its transmission anymore and did the self delete. I was driving on the highway and the CEL popped on for a TCM and my truck wouldn’t shift higher than second gear. I was able to limp it to a buddies nearby using back roads who has a lift and we pulled the trans pan, looks like a glitter bomb exploded. The TCM should be able to be reused once cleaned. My best option as of now is to get a used trans and swap it just to get it driving as I use it for my business. My question is are all 6l80e trans the same? I have heard you have to buy the same generation of trans but I’m not sure what years that includes with my 2016. I’ve seen some 2011-2013 trans with 4x4 but don’t want to pull the trigger unless it’s a straight forward bolt up and program.
Thanks!
My transmission needs replaced in my 2011 6.0 liter truck with a 1DGA auto transmission. There are many 0DKA models for sale that went into this same model. Are they interchangeable?
what was the result of your dilemma, I'm in the exact same situation and bought a part truck with the odka transmission not knowing it was different, I'm ready to put the whole running gear in if necessary. I can't afford a2500 transmission.
