BRAND NEW 2020 Trailboss - PROBLEM
So, day 6 of owning it with 600 miles on it. Go out to unlock it, won't unlock. Had to use the "key" - get in - won't start - and EVERYTHING was dead. Couldn't even unlock doors. Called Chevy Roadside assistance - they send out an actual TOW truck - ( after 4 hours) not a flatbed. I said "hell no, you're not towing it like that" - so he jumped it, and I drove it straight back to the dealer (and the check engine light is on). Just called and apparently Chevy KNOWS of an issue with CERTAIN Silverados (why me - I've had Chevy's for 20+ years and never had issues like this)...... and dealer is downloading a program then running series of tests. Apparently while sitting overnight, some module makes stuff kick on and drains the battery completely. Nice that I spend $50K+ and NOT enjoying this. Any input ??????? Chevy??????????? Oh yea, and the radio reception STILL sucks, just like it did in my '14 Silverado. WTH

I am not enamored with the "shark-fin" antenna systems. I used to install entire two-way radio's way back in the day before cell-phones and would prefer a stock antenna like my 98' K-1500 has. I had to get into the system and do some work on my 2015 Bu' so that "On-Star" can no longer track me or listen in to my conversations on my own cell-phone without my permission. I quit a company that I was working for over that very issue.
As a professional driver, I was not about to have to put up with a video recording system (SmartDrive) which not only recorded the road ahead but had an internal driver-faced camera with a microphone, all mounted up on the left upper windshield, and not only transmitted everything to my employer, but to some east Indian outfit as well via satellite uplink. I was born an American who values his hard-won freedoms, Too frakking many people died much too young to give me those freedoms and are not forgotten at all by people such as myself.

Keep in mind, I’m not defending GM here, just trying to contribute to the conversation...
As frustrating as this is, it’s simply par for the course with new vehicles - not just GM, but Ford, Dodge, Toyota, Honda, and so on - all manufacturers have to work out the bugs. It’s probably the only actual reason why a warranty is offered at all.
For all the R&D that’s put into new generations of vehicles, it’s not always possible to know how things are gonna work until they start building them. Some problems are caught in production and corrected while others aren’t discovered until several have been towed back to the dealer. There’s so many factors that could contribute to why a fault isn’t discovered pre-sale it’s almost impossible to determine the cause unless a thorough investigation is done (such as when the GM ignition switches started shorting out and causing fires).
I highly recommend watching the documentary “A Faster Horse” (on Netflix last I knew). It’s about when Ford designed and built the 5th gen Mustangs and, although I’m sure it’s not the exact same process for other manufacturers, it provides some interesting insight on what it takes to build a modern car.
And remember - lemon laws exist for a reason - it may be irritating beyond description to go through the process, but you’re not stuck with the truck if it proves to be problematic.

Well - mine just had to be jumped again and is heading back to the dealer after 2 weeks of having it from the first fiasco - (now with 1100 MILES ON IT ) SO in another two weeks if it happens again, it's the 3rd time for same issue - LEMON LAW
Yesterday it said "A problem was encountered while updating the software. " And it would try again when the vehicle was in Park. Instead of the compass reading N,S, E, or W -it said CAL (calibrate). The minute I saw that, I KNEW it would be dead in the AM. I TOLD the dealer that - they didn't listen - no one wants to listen to the WOMAN

While a vehicle should be operated every few weeks, to keep everything lubricated and to dispel any condensation, this is the kind of thing that service mangers tell people.
If it's going to set for a spell, a trickle charger will keep the battery up to a full charge. But like I indicated, its wise to drive it every few weeks at best.

Dealer has had my truck since Thusday PM - I reached out to them yesterday to see what was going on. They checked the truck out several times and after it sat over the weekend, it set a few voltage codes. They are generating a "technical assistance case" to see it any additional info for repair is available and then are going to request a GM engineer come out to the dealership IF they can't get a definite method for repair.
I don't expect to see my truck for another week or so probably

With a brand new Chevy, we usually suggest that you allow them to solve the problems since you have a vehicle warranty. I'd use that, beat the hell out of it (drive it like mad) while in warranty until your Chevy runs properly before the warranty runs out. Frankly, although my Malibu's radio works fine, without the stock shark-fin antenna working as it was designed.
