Default Cooling system air pocket

I’ve a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado RST 5.3L vin engine. The DFM system dropped a lifter and I’ve rebuilt the whole engine. Cam, lifters, push rods, oil control valves, heads, timing gears and chain, oil pump and the cause of the problem a failed oil pick up tube. While I had it apart I went ahead and put a new water pump on her too because she has 90K miles on her. And I’ve tried several way to fill the cooling system back up. Truck runs great but when it gets hot the water pump has air in it and makes a gurgling sound. Anyone know of a way to get the air out?

new problem: after running for 2200 miles the truck started knocking and found oil pressure dropped to 12 pounds. The knock was a rod on # 7 cylinder. The new oil pump failed and destroyed engine. I’m waiting to hear back from GM on part warranty on new oil pump. I doubt they do anything so I’ll be out $5 ,000 or more for the third time. I’m seriously thinking about junking a four year old Chevrolet without a scratch on it because GM can design a reliable engine!

They can . We know this because the SBC was a very reliable engine for decades.

It looks to me that the V8 won't survive very far into this millennium with all the restrictions big brother is putting on them. And I mean from any manufacturer, not just GM. Everybody is dropping the V8s in favor of V6 engines. I think that the complexity that must be added for these engines to meet modern laws makes it impossible for them to be reliable (at a reasonable cost to the consumer). So if that doesn't sit with you, vote appropriately.

Default DFM Failires

I posted the first post on the cooling system, I got the cooling system fixed by purchasing a vacuum system fill tool and successfully ran the truck for 2,200 miles then it started making a noise. I found it had a rod knocking it it and found the entire engine would have to be replaced. But on problem. GM parts direct said that there are not any engines to be had and they had on source to get the from, but it’d take 8 to 12 months to get one. Chevrolet corp from the dealership told me the engine is discontinued and there are none to be had. So I’m taking a 2020 Silverado and am junking a $30K truck all because of an engine that was poorly designed and you cannot get help from Chevrolet to even fix it. This the third time it’s blown up the dealer offered to repair it again with no cost for parts but I’d have to pay $90 and hour to build the engine at an estimated cost of $12k . So I’m junking it if already spent $9k on it for parts so I’d never ever get my money back out of it. They don’t make a conversion kit for it to delete the DFM and you can’t get an engine so for the first time in my life I’m not going to drive a Chevrolet truck!
