There is a body to frame ground that is exposed to the elements. And I live in a northern state which uses salt in the winter time. This braided ground strap was completely dissolved on my 2019 Silverado causing loss of electric steering and it also tossed a code for brake controller. I replaced the strap with a shielded wire. Hopefully this won’t happen again there was only 43,000 miles on this vehicle.

yeah that's some shoddy design. At least mine has insulation on it.
