I’m new to this forum and this is my first post but I’ve gotten so much great information here in the past. Last night Park in front of my house in 12° weather in eastern Pennsylvania and noticed the front end was sunken down 4 inches into what I thought was a minor mud and ice hole. Had the truck in four-wheel-drive started to pull away and sank even deeper trying to rocket left to right forward and reverse as it only sank deeper within seconds. Rear wheels were completely off the ground by 2 inches and tow truck came to get me at 3 AM pulled me in reverse while I was in four-wheel-drive and got out no problem. He left and when I tried to Drive down the driveway there was zero power steering. There was frozen rock and ice chunks completely cement rock hard within 10 minutes of being pulled out. Thought maybe a rock was lodged in the tie rod area but after a power washing that wasn’t the case. My brakes still work fine there are no leaks with the power steering fluid, but it’s almost like I am not getting any power at all to the power steering pump. When I turn it left to right I don’t hear that power steering pump noise, The serpentine belt is fine, the tie rods don’t appear to be bent, and today I jacked up the front end so the wheels were off the ground and grab each tire to swing it left and right and nothing is inhibiting that motion. Could it be the power steering pump shaft is broken but would that still allow me to keep my brakes because it looks like I’m reading in forums that the brakes and power steering usually are together when the power steering pump rod fails.
Any wisdom would be a great help thank you guys
