Greetings and thanks for the Forum!
We travel quite a bit and my wife communicates with family while on the road. Our problem is that she has to talk really loud on hands free for anyone to hear her. There is a mic grille directly above her but either the mic doesn't work or there is not one there.
Has anyone had any luck correcting this?
Adding a mic?

probably Bluetooth ear buds with microphones are going to give the best audio

 

Mine works fine. Since your vehicle is a 2022, it should be under warranty, hence, take it in and have it fixed on GM's dime.
