Tire Rotation Fail
I was fortunate as this place was about a mile from I-44, and that's where I was going. I knew something was not right, so I turned around took it back, and they mechanic had failed to tighten the lug nuts.
First, glad you and the kids are ok.
Based off my experience working in a body shop this is fixable, as others have said.
Replace items
1) Fender
2) various components on front suspension (rotor, caliper, pads, hub, maybe control arm, wheel, lugs and TWO new front tires).
Repair items
1) Door, looks minor
2) Paint, silver is a hard color match, stress perfection and a good painter will get it.
3) A very good four wheel alignment.
Check items
1) Frame and suspension connect point to the frame for bends. Minor changes make significant ificant difference on these new cars and trucks
2) Anything that may have scraped on the pavement.
3) Steering - end to end
best of luck and also thanks to your husband and you all for his service.

I had one lug nut come completely off. Discovered it after I had made a 350 mile trip to visit my son. We had decided to rotate the tires while at his place and that's when we found one lug nut missing on one wheel. The remaining four were tight. I had no clue how it happened as last I had checked the lug nuts were all there.

While I know my reply was over-reaction and some have said that it was (which I agree)... I just hope you get a proper resolution on this situation. The dealership that caused the problem is responsible and it needs to be resolved to YOUR satisfaction and not THEIRS... Please keep us updated (if possible) on how this all works out.
Almost happened to me on my '93 Mazda Miata once. I had just taken it in to the local grease monkey to get it inspected and apparently he forgot to tighten the lug nuts on the front left wheel. As I was pulling out of his shop, I could hear kind of a creaking in the front. I pulled off the road up the hill and looked at the wheel. Looks like he only started putting the lug nuts on as they were on the lugs, but not even close to the wheel. The only thing keeping the wheel on was the weight of the car. I tightened them up and drove back and gave the guy a piece of my mind. That's the last time I ever went there. I'm guessing as he started to put the lug nuts on he got a phone call and got distracted, but still you need to double-check before you let the customer take the car. Now I check my lugs every time I have it serviced when it involves removing a wheel. I usually have to take a pipe over the lug wrench (for leverage) and re-loosen the lugs anyway because they put them on so tight you can't ever get them off with just the lug wrench. I'd hate to not be able to remove it if I got a flat tire on the road.
this can happen in any business. How the business handles their mess is what makes them reputable.
In Canada that would have been a $3000 to $5000 repair.
