Default Trying to decide on a truck

Hello I'm looking for some advice on which truck to buy. Im retiring my 2000 1500. I want a bigger engine so I'm trying to decide between a 18 high country with 6.2 or a 2020 2500hd. Custom With the 6.6 gas. Neither my boat or camper, would require the 2500. I just want to have the extra power for hills, and other traffic situations. I don't put a lot of miles on, but I would drive it every day. Any thoughts or problems you may have had will hopefully help me decide. Thanks

for comparison...what engine and rear end did your 1500 have?
gm is offering a 6.6L gas engine or is that a typo?

yep 6.6 gas in the 2500hd custom. My old truck has the 4.8L so theres not much to compare. I've test drove both the 6.2 and the 6.6, and I like them both. 6.2 is noticeably quicker. But the 6.6 doesn't have the active fuel management, which I haven't been able to find a definitive answer, if the problems with that were resolved by 2018.

4.8 are gutless empty let alone towing. a 5.3 with a high ratio rear end is a big improvement over a 4.8. the 2500 is a much better truck as long as you are ok with the increased fuel consumption and harsher ride. a 6.2 will have all the power you need.
I've had both 2500 and 1500 gasers. if you need to tow a 2500 is the way to go. driving around town empty...I hate the ride and mpg. As far as repairs (suspension and steering linkage) parts are more expensive but they last much longer for 2500 vs 1500
