Default 1997 chevy asro with a bad OBD2 code scanner plug?

So I have a 1997 chevy astro (RWD LT 4.6L V6). Recently I had a check engine light come on. So I plugged my code scanner in and nothing happened. no power going to the plug. So I figured thats what the light was for. But when the light went off, the plug still didnt work. Ive never had this problem before. checked all the fuses and they were all good. I also noticed that the light would go off and if you made a shard sudden turn, on went the light. Any help would be great.

Wow, that's a good one. Definitely have a short somewhere, but don't know where I'd begin looking. Guess I try doing a bunch of continuity checks between the ECM and the port and see what I find.

Thanks. Does anyone know if that is a usual problem with these vans?

I've had seven of these vans across 14 years and for several years been on two forums dedicated only to them and four forums with a sub-section for them and do not recall seeing this problem before.

Default obd II plug

I went to get an emission test last year and when the machine was hooked up to my obdII plug, there was no power @ the plug. Turns out there was a blown fuse, but I don't remember which one. Put a new one in and no problem since.

MY ASTRO 1997 HAS ABOUT 204,000 kMS ON IT , RECENTLY THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE GAS TANK IS MORE THAN 1/4 FULL, MEANS WHEN I FILL UP THE TANK IT COMES ON AND GOES AWAYA AS SOON THE GAS IN TANK DROPS TO 1/4 OR LESS TAHN IT, GOT MY FUEL PUMP ( NEW DELCO) CHANGED LAST YR AND HAS ABOUT 10TO 15 THOUSNAD KMS ONLY AFTER IT.
PL. SUGGEST THE SOULTION

Alka, what code does it set? Most parts stores will read the codes for free.
