One morning it just wouldnt start, I can smell gas, so thats ok(rail pressure is 62# when cranking). but I can't get a spark between the cap and a plug wire. I checked the coil according to the "haynes" manual and it is within specs, and is getting voltage. Continuity thru the cap and rotor are o.k. Fuses are o.k.
Any ideas? what should I check next that would keep it from firing?
A couple times in the last few months, when accelerating from a stop, it would feel like it was missing real bad or running out of gas, but then would run fine. Not sure if its related or not, but may be helpful.
Thanks,

After checking just about everything I could, and replacing a couple things, it will start and idle fine, but when I step on the gas it misses really bad, really really bad. I can get the rpms up, but barely. It's still in the driveway, taunting me daily.

I also have a 98 astro doing the same problem. I haven't figured anything out either. I have replaced cap, wires and plugs. I had an arc in my cap the burned a hole through the cap, so i thought replacing that would work, but it didn't. I have also blow up my muffler trying to start it one time. most of the time it starts and idles fine but feels like its missing really bad when I step on the gas. Some times it just wont start.
