Default distributor

any one no what chevy v8 had no pickup in the distributor and no cam sensor? i have a 5.7 2004 marine engine that has no pickup or cam sensor . i was told chevy made a truck with a similar set up .

afaik all sbc had a pickup coil in the distributor even in the 70s. the cam sensor was utilized once the ecm came out in the mid 80s. maybe the marine engines are different but i cant say ive even worked on one
