Smile Power Drain 92 Astro

I love my ASTRO so much but if I drive further than 5 or 6 miles it does not have enough juice to flip over and start. If I let it sit
for 30 minutes it some how recharges and I can get it to start. This is after a new battery installed and a new rebuilt alternator.
Any suggestions on what I should look for. Could this be a ghost power drain from some place else in the truck? Thanks!

It could be. I'd wait until dark and have a look-see. My 1998 K-1500 had a drain, It was from the under-hood utility light being on. I didn't notice it until it was dark out, and to boot, it was partial, not full-time draining my battery on me. You just never know with newer vehicles sometimes. For instance, my "check airbag" display came on my 15 Malibu. Hooked up my scan tool, cleared it, and it hasn't been back since. Don't ask me. Some small glitch. Sure glad it was too as the air-bag sensors are $95 bucks apiece.

I had something very similar many years ago and it turned out to be the timing of the engine was advanced too far, making it too hard for the starter to fight the engine firing too early. After looking for everything possible, the timing was retarded a little bit and no more problem. Thuis is a simple fix and hopefully it will help you.

Thank you for that. I did just recently have my timing belt changed as well. Great ideas you guys. I appreciate your feedback! She drove like a dream today, starting and stopping like she should. Maybe its because my ASTRO knew I was vacuuming and cleaning today! CHEERS!
