Default Power windows/locks not working

I just purchased a 1999 Astro. The power windows/locks aren't working at all. Neither switch, driver or passenger side will move windows or locks. What is weird though, when i installed a new battery, the drivers side lock automatically locks itself when the battery gets reconnected. Any ideas?

Check to make sure the harness is plugged into the back of the switches. Also when the door is open check to make sure the wires in the coil tube going from the door to the main body doesnt have a bare wire.

Also, check the fuse. It's rare to have wires on both sides fail at the same time.

Your right but if one side grounds out or one side unplugs it doesnt allow the other side to work. I've have both happen to my 01 astro. I do agree on the fuse though. I just figured that was already checked lol

I have an 01...when the driver side switches went, the passenger side went within two days...all together now! Would not surprise me in the least that the whole thing, both sides parted ways simu-cast!

Check even the fuses that are apparently unrelated to the locks, specifcally the accessory fuse (cigarette lighter, etc.) When I had the same lock problem, I found that fuse was the only one burnt out. I replaced it and "voila!", the locks worked again. Go figure.

What made me look for the short in the harness is the relay for the windows was hot. And they would not go up and down anymore.

I'll have to check all this out this weekend. What i thought was weird was how the driver's door automatically locked when i hooked the battery up.
