Default Need new motor

I think I may need a new motor for my 2005 Chevy Avalanche 2WD 5.3L.
Does anybody have any good suggestions for the best place to get one?
The dealer is quoting close to $6000 for a remanufactured one with 3 year/100000 warranty. Is this something that can be purchased online or local (not the dealer)? I am in Phoenix. Any good suggestions?

TIA,
Stu

Maybe companies like Summit or Jegs? Sometimes they will run promotions on free shipping. You could also just call around to local mechanics and see where they get their engines from.

I would go back to the dealer, that $6000 probably includes the core charge ($2500.00) which you will get back after you return the old engine. I just replaced the 5.3 with another 5.3 in my 02 Avalanche which I purchased through the dealer.
