Sorry, thought I responded earlier. Yes I have remote door locks

 

that is what its supposed to do when its working normally. the battery light when off is a "bulb check".

 

The trouble went back to the installation of the ignition cylinder lock and ignition switch and the casing. Apparently I wasn't careful enough when I took the old switch out and the gears were 3 teeth off when I set the new switch As a last ditch effort, I pulled the new switch and moved the gear 3 teeth towards the dash. Walla! It is fixed! Before when I turned the key off it was not moving the switch far enough to turn the red light off.
