Sudden scraping sound while driving and rough stop, can’t move.
I have a 2005 Chevy avalanche.
Im lost right now trying to solve an issue with a problem that suddenly started.
I was driving and heard some scraping. It got worse very quickly and within a 3 mile drive, my brakes were locking up to the point the truck wouldn’t move and I would need to sit for about 10 seconds to allow the brakes or whatever the problem is to release and move again. Did some parking lot testing to get a feel for what was wrong and noticed reverse usually worked when it locked up but forward did not. Going to a stop is an extremely rough halt. It was essentially undriveable so I left it overnight to fix the next day.
next day: flat drivers side rear tire. Checked the tire and the tire is fine, no holes or leaks, but the inside of the rim has a nice scrape around it and a tiny pin hole was worn into it, which is the source of the leak. The rotor and pads are fine. I put the spare tire on to test functionality and the problem persists.
I’m not sure if this is my calipers locking up and somehow causing the tire to scrape. But the sound is really rough, stopping shakes the whole vehicle. I inspected the rotors and pads and they look okay. I can’t actually see where it’s scraping on the wheel hub. The caliper doesn’t appear to have any scrape marks and nothing else shows obvious signs of wear.
My next thought was going to be checking the front brakes since I initially though that was the source of the problem since when it locked up the tires would screech to a complete stop. I just don’t understand how that would impact the inside of the rim on the rear tire.
anyways, any advice would help.

maybe you got a rock caught in there. Is the backing plate intact?
Are you bearings and calipers tight and solid?
Have you done any work on the brakes lately? Post photos if you have them.
