97 lumina 3.1 loss of power, misfire, tapping noise

97 lumina 3.1 loss of power, misfire, tapping noise
this is a v6 3.1 97 chevy lumina
recently the car has a loud tapping noise, misfires under a load, loss of power.
after removing the valve cover there appears to be sludge, valves appear fine, no broken springs, lifters intact, functioning fine but when you accelerate there is a difinate misfire and tapping noise with loss of pick up. no leaks around gasket.
oil seems a bit light almost has a watery consistancy. not sure if the plugs make a difference but seems to me that these are not the right ones for this car. not sure anyone can give some insight.
any recalls or service bulletins that have to do with the engine?
also recently now the brakes are making a clicking noise when you apply and the ABS light just went on.. think it may be the stop switch going bad.. anyone have anything on either of these issues?
