Unhappy Unlocking the Trunk (bad/over design)

I am a proud new Bolt EV owner!

One issue I have is unlocking the trunk when dropping someone ff (or picking them up) and they need to access the trunk.

The process is:
1. press the door unlock button
2. open the driver's door
3. have the person open the trunk, get their stuff, close the trunk
4. close the driver's door
5. drive off

Why on earth must I open and close the driver's door?
This seems to be a superfluous step (maybe for security?)

Does anyone else have this issue?
It has already arisen 5 times (I have had the car 2 days) -- needless to say it took me a while to sort it out.

Any advice -- how on earth do I get someone with "power" to read this note?

I don't think you can open it when the engine is running.
"safety"

It SHOULD be:
put it in park;
press Unlock on the door;
& the touch pad should be unlocked.
Doesn't it?
No, you definitely shouldn't have to open the drivers door(?)
COULD be a bug

Right you are -- the car must be put in PARK to open the trunk.
To me this is a bug -- to GM it is a safety feature

Actually NOT the same as a regular trunk latch -- maybe regular for a Chevy.

If I pull the car to a stop (still in drive or neutral for a stick) I can open the trunk on a VW, Lexus, Mercedes, Volvo .. those are the cars I have owned. I am sure there are other makes.

With a Chevy Bolt I cannot do this ... you seem awfully defensive. I wonder why?
