Welcome to the forum!
It could be vapor locked. How much does he want for it?

The fuel pump might have overheated and then died. There also might be some trapped air in the fuel system. It simply doesn't make sense that it wouldn't start after running out of gas.......somethings "amis" here......don't think they're telling you the complete story! Be careful!!

I think he may be telling the whole story when he was told that he was selling it for parts, I had the 2.8 in my 87 S10 Blazer and they don't make much power.
If you are thinking of buying it for a project car start with changing out that motor, if you plan on buying it for a daily driver, what can you expect for $750?
