Check the wiring to the sensor for any bad connections, frayed wires or shorted wires.

Also remember you shouldn't touch the electrode of the MAF sensor. Only spray MAF cleaner on it.

There shouldn't be anything hot next to it, is there? Electrical it should have a 5 volt reference circuit to it, and 5 volts shouldn't create any kind of heat. Just because it was "new" dosen't mean it is good.

The only thing that should get hot is the filament inside the sensor which you shouldn't be touching and would burn the hell out of you, kind of having a hard time deciphering your posts but im assuming you have a wiring issue

That means the exterior case shouldn't be getting as hot as it sounds. The filiments measure airflow, to measure flow you need temperature, this is a cheap way to do it, heat the air at a known temp.
