Default motor identification

I have recently purchased a 1991 Chevy Camaro Rs and I found out that it has a 350 engine. I wanted to do a search to determine the year of the motor beacause this is not the actual moor that came with the car.I checked the numbers on the block what i could see and it read on the block 350 also j024 thats all i could see from underneath.I took the valve cover gaskets off and read the #s on the head.GM 22 - 14102193 also i think the next # reads k016. can anyone shed some light on this topic, so i will know the important info when it comes time to make that trip to the autoparts store for parts.

Look on the firewall for a cowl tag, that will give "some" of the build specs such as color ect. You might have to decipher it as the last chevy cowl tag I looked at was on a 70 Impala.

The casting number 14102193 on your head indicates a 1987 305 or 350 with 1.94/1.5 valves.

If you can get the entire engine ID code (look for the number stamped into a pad in front of the right/passenger side head) you may be able to identify it here: Welcome - Casting Numbers .info: Numbers for blocks, heads, GM RPO codes, and more

The head castings are 1986-88 350. The k016 is the date code. K=November (the 12 months are A-L). 01=1st day of the month. 6=1986.
That late in the 86 year means they were for a 1987 production year car.
On the block, depending on where you found the j024, is likely the date code. j=October. 02=2nd day of the month. 4 could be 1974, 1984, 1994.
Find the casting number off the top of the passenger side of the bellhousing flange. That will help narrow it down.
