Default Making Power in my 1973 Camaro (HELP)

Hey everyone, im a bit of a noob so bare with me. I have a 73' z28 and im looking for ways to boost up the performance. My main goal is to get the 0-60 in at least the low 5's. What do you recommend i do? If it happens that i need an engine and tranny swap please tell me which ones are best value and additional parts needed for the swap as well as prices. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

You don't say what motor is in it, so I'll assume it's a 350ci. Heads, Cam, intake, good carb, good headers will help. The biggest thing for a quick 0-60 time will be a good rear end with a good gear ratio, like a 3.73 or 4.11.

yea 350 in a 73 z28, everything these guys have said will do what you want, if you are a noob at this i would sugest getting an edelbrock performance kit, one that comes with heads, cam, intake and carb this way all the parts are matched to compliment each other, different cams and intakes are for diferent rpm's so if not done right your could end up with a dog, you will need to take the trans into a rebuilder or you could order one from poenix trans, they are the cheapest i have seen with the best warranty, then your rearend will need work, currie is one of the best companies for that and they have a high volume so prices are decent,
just remember the rule: fast : cheap :reliable- pick 2
