Hi, i've got a 85 camaro, the previous owner put a 350 in it, i'm not sure where it came from. It has an edelbrock 1406 performer series carb. The car starts and runs fine at idle, but backfires during acceleration. It also runs fine at a steady speed on the highway, only has problems during acceleration. any ideas? thank you!

 

Pull off the air cleaner so you can see better.Then at night look closely at the spark plug wires/dist for arching while you rev it up.My guess it they need replacing.Most RPM issues are related to ignition problems.

Also have a fuel pressure gauge hooked up to see the pressure while rev'ing it up.
