Default 3rd gen ('77-'90) potential buyer, things to look for?

Hey all, I'm brand new here, looking to potentially buy an old school caprice wagon for myself. I play the drums in two bands and drive almost everywhere, a lot of highway miles with lots of gear. I'm thinking this would be the perfect vehicle for carrying lots of cargo, people, and driving daily. I'm a bit of a mechanic myself and have always maintained my own vehicles. I know how these things have a trustworthy reputation, just looking for some advice on what I should look for, if there are any common problems or things to avoid when looking at possibly buying one? How easy is it to find parts for and how expensive is the maintenance, etc... I love the aesthetics and functionality of these cars, and I know I'd have a lot of fun owning one.

Thanks!
