i wanted to know i need a new tranny in my 86 caprice my tranny is the 700R4... so my question is would a 700R4 out of any chevy work and fit into my car like out of a 91 astro or a 91 chevy pick up??

i don't know entirely about that but i had mine replaced with a jasper engines rebuilt 700r4. they make great rebuilds and upgrade the tranny with all updates from the year yours was originally to the present. I thought was pretty good to know all the kinks that the OEM worked out over the years would not be there in my rebuild.
