Choke Light stays on after coldstart Stock 88 Caprice
Hello
I have a Choke light sometimes after cold start..
It s a stock 1988 Caprice Brougham V8 Code H Engine with electric Choke and carburator.
I renewed the choke coil and the oil pressure switch...
Choke flaps working fine and open fully after 3 minutes. Oil is ok. New pressure sensor.
Last thing maybe the choke heater relay, but can not find in my car or in the Internet or in Haynes Manual.
Thanks a lot for any help!!
Best regards
Mo

Hey
I have now some information from my manual how choke worked in a 88 Caprice with e choke and stock Rochester, maybe someone is interested:
1. Ignition on = Choke bulb burns
2. Engine run = Oil pressure Sensor opens and removed ground in Choke Relay.
3. Relay closes and voltage goes to bulb and to choke.
4. The result: bulb gets two voltage and goes out.
Choke Coil gets voltage and opens the choke flaps which where closed before by depress pedal in car.
So everything started with pulse from oil pressure sensor which switches the relay...
I hope thats almost correct...
Best regards,
Mo
