Gas gauge problem on 1968 Caprice
Gas needle was stuck past full (about 3 oclock) with full tank or with tank drained empty. At one time the needle showed normal briefly while driving and then back to overfull. I pulled apart the wire coming out of the top of tank. There was no meter continuity. But testing from that separated wire going up to the gauge there was continuity with ignition switch on "off" and "accessory" but no continuity with ignition switch to "on". This testing was done with tank drained. Trying to determine whether it is a gauge/wiring problem or the gas tank float. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
