Default Headlight problem

Hello all,
On my 1988 Chevy Caprice wagon, the outside low beam headlights go
out when I turn on the highbeams...can someone tell me a place to start ?
Also, if someone suggest a headlight relay...where is it located ?

Thank you

That year has the one piece molded plastic head lights I believe, that's normal for GM's of that era, even up to some current models.

Painless Wiring has a "fix" for that. Try Jeg's or Summit Racing.

@ 200OZ,
You may be right about how it works...I looked at the bulb plugs today and the low beam only has two wires in it as well as the high beam, I
just never noticed the low beams going out (off) when the high beams
were turned on. And yes, you were right about the one piece molded
headlight, but mine are real glass.

Thank you.

My 90 Caprice 9C1 was like that, I used the painless style upgrade, but I got mine from LMC truck for the Chevy trucks, same hook ups and a less money. Surprised at how much you can see when you have all four of those babies running.
