Default Not working engine

Hello everyone,

I have a caprice classic that we use as a taxi. We bought the car and drove it home. The engine did not run very smooth but it was ok. When we got home we changed all filters, fluids, plugs en wires. After we had done that it would not start anymore.

When we crank the engine it wil start and run nice for 1 or 2 seconds. After that it stalls. When we start it again it does the same. But when we rapidly push the trothel and lose it (keep doing this) the engine keeps running but very rough. When we put barkleen i believe it is called the ening will run also. After stopping it wil stall.

We allready have tried al lot to solve the problem but nothing seems to work. I hope some one can help us because we really need the car in the season!

We are located in the south of the Netherlands (europe) and USA cars are very rare here, and so are the mechanics of those cars.

Best regards,

Ferdy

Sounds to me that something is wrong with the firing. Did you mess with the distributor by chance?! It's either that or wrong firing order...

We did not change anything to the distrbutor. I can recheck the firing order but when i start it it will start up run fine for a second and than stall.

If it ain't that it only comes down to either a fuel pump/fuel filter that is clogged. I mean if it's not staying running it has to be either firing or fuel...

The problem is solved for the half. There is a gas instalation in the car so that we can drive on LPG (kind of propane gas).

The oil pressure switch was broken en and cut down the power to the fuel pump (and gas inst.)

The car runs on gas now but not on gasoiline. We have still the same problem.

Today we will try to look at the fuel pump and the hoses

thanks for the reply's and i will keep it posted.
