2 weeks to get new Captiva key & fob from local locksmith
It's been about 2 weeks since I ordered a new key and fob for our 2013 Chevy Captiva. I had to bring our only key set in to the locksmith for them to look at it. They wrote down the part # OUC6002, that is Oscar Uncle Charlie 6002. The locksmith said he called around and had to order it from a company in Florida. Possibly it would have been faster for me to go to the Chevy dealer, but when I tried the same thing at a Ford dealer for our F150, they were not too interested in ordering or calling me back. Lots of phone refusal these days.
so he gave you the options when he knew getting the part would take a while. Sounds like good customer service.
he probably has brought specific keys in the past and is now stuck with them when the people didn't return.

Finally the locksmith was able to replace the key-fob combination. It took a few trips from his store out to the street with his black programming box. He said that in 2013, the Captivas may have been built in Korea or Mexico, using different key setups. This was a real lesson in how valuable a key is, and why, when buying a used car, the dealer might not mention that they have only one key. That spare key is worth a few hundred bucks.
