Default Radiator Cooling Fan Motor

Hello everyone,
I have a 2013 Chevy Captiva with the 2.4L engine. I noticed the A/C was shutting off when the car was sitting still, but when driving it turned back on. My first thought was the electric fan. It turned out the motor was bad. A new AC Delco part is at least $120, so I found just 1 aftermarket fan for about $40.
Removing the fan motor is quite fun, but I managed to get it out, with the fan blades attached. I was told that the threads are reversed on the retaining nut for the fan, so I gently went the other direction to loosen and the stud broke with the nut on it. I was able to drill it out, but it seems the nut was damaged anyway, and it appeared to be smaller than the stud on the replacement.
I went to Autozone and Home Depot in search of a nut that would fit but no luck. Tried to order a 'parts package' from GM but was told it was discontinued. Now I've ordered a replacement factory motor, but I dont think it comes with the retaining nut anyway.
Has anyone had this issue or know anything?! This is crazy!
