2000 Z24 - engine noises
Hi! I have a 2000 Z24, around 126,000 miles (that I haven't had very long) and it's making a couple of strange noises. One is a sort of scraping/grinding (?) noise when I depress the accelerator pedal too far down .. the noise sounds as though it's in the engine on the driver side and there is sometimes a slight vibration to the pedal. The car's performance is fine, and the noise stops when I ease up on the accelerator. If I accelerate very gently, barely resting my foot on the gas pedal, I don't get the noise at all.
The other is an rpm-related squealing sound that seems to be originating near the alternator. The belt looks fine and appears to be properly tensioned.
I'm concerned about cost right now, but don't want to keep driving with some issue that could either strand me by the side of the road, or lead to something really major (and hopefully neither of these problems ARE major!). I don't have any warning lights or performance problems at this point --- just the noises.
Thanks for any help!

the belt may look fine to the eye but what makes them squeak are like tiny tiny cracks on the underside of the belt that you cant see. I would try changing the belt first...there only like $25
