2001 Cavalier Starter relay problems
My cavalier has been having problems starting for the past year or so. When I turn the key, the dash lights headlights radio etc come on, but the car wont start. No clicking or anything. I have taken it in to the dealer on three separate occasions, and every time, they link the problem to a ground wire connected to the starter relay. They supposedly fix the wiring problem, and replace the starter relay, and it works anywhere from 3 weeks to 8 months. The last i took it in, they cut the ground wire going into the relay and connected it directly to the ground on the battery. time I realize that the work is most likely under warranty, but I travel between places, and rarely have time to go back to the city i got the car fixed in.
Its work noting that I can still start the car by bridging the relay. I stick a nail in the bottom left, and the top right hole on the the relay connects to, and touch the nails together and the car will start. Pic here 85 and 87 are the two that i bridge with the nails.
I do have an amp and sub installed but I don't believe that is the problem. Everything seems ok on the wiring their, no headlight dimming or surging or anything like that.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks
