Red face 2002 cavalier

I have a 2002 cavalier with an air condition problem. It was working fine and then started to only produce cold air when I am easing off on the gas,as soon as i step on the gas again it stops blowing cold. The engine and temperature remains normal.Any suggestions would be appreciated

probably a low charge you'll probably have to take it to a shop unless you have access to a set of gauges or recovery machine

might check the air gap on the clutch and try to make sure that its staying engaged, what were the pressures you had on your gauges?

Default 2002 cavalier air condition problems

I can't recall the gauge readings as it was done 6 Mos. ago.Seeing as the unit delivers cold air when I ease off on the gas I suspect a lack of vacuum some where but I do not hear any hissing sound of leaking vacuum. If the temp. here gets above the freezing mark I will check with the gauge again.

was the problem happening then? could have developed a leak. Does the airflow change modes at all or just change temperature? I personally haven't had to dig too far into the evac systems on cavaliers they just usually had a leak somewhere, have replaced a fair amount of compressors.

The modes stay the same on this vehicle. I had a Ford F150 that started to only blow cold air when i stepped on the gas and it would change from the vents to the defroster but this cavalier stays where it is set.
