Is there a trick to removing the shifter **** on this 87 automatic cavalier?</P>


The side button will not push the release mechanism down far enough to be able to move the shifter.</P>


There is a slot in the lower front of the **** that looks like it has a release pin that if pushed would release the **** but it wont budge.</P>


Any help is appreciated.</P>

Actually that release pin needs to be pulled out [8D],, i had to do that yesterday to get the shifter off my 92 cav and i think it was the same deal for the 87 i had.
