My brother in law has 03 cavalier. I started helping him replace thermostat. When we put it back in he broke a bolt off. Can someone tell me what it is the thermostat housing bolts to? Can I take it off and drill the broken bolt out? Looks like I can. Just really don’t know what it is. Tia

 

what motor 2.4, 2.2 ecotec or 2200.

 

2.2 Ecotec.

 

Whatever it is that it bolts to. Looks like it’s held on by three or four bolts and a couple hoses. Want to know if I’m fact I can remove it to get broke bolt out

Broke a bolt in mine too. Forget about 'drilling out broken bolt' the drill will drift to the side. When mine did this I simply tapped the new hole and put a new bolt in there. Works fine.
