Default Cavalier instrument cluster swap

Hey guys! Im new to this forum and just bought a 2002 Chevy cavalier with the 2.2l engine for a few hundred bucks. Issue with it is the odometer Is displayed in kilometers (Canadian car brought in to the u.s.) and I want it to display in miles. I know the junkyard has a few cavaliers that I could take an instrument cluster from. If I swapped one from a donor car would the milage be off? Would it still display the milage in kilometers? Or is this information stored in the instrument cluster. Any help would be great. Thanks!

iirc it might be stored in the bcm so it "might" not change. iirc the antitheft is in the cluster so it might not start after swapping clusters. go to jbody.org and see what they say. its a cav forum.

I vote get a cluster from a place that is fully testing clusters using testing tools and can make sure that there are no issues. If there are any issues in circuit board then it could cause shorts in the computers and cause more issues. I personally wouldn't do junk yards. I had issues in my silverado so searched out one of the top remanufactures online. I know instruments sales used to do all of GMs manufacturing work and have all the testing tools so I went with them... should check them out https://issautomotive.com/
