cavalier shakes when I break
Ok...I think this is a break issue but not sure. 2002 cavalier shakes when I break. It's not a viloent shake but it feels like I am going over a bumby road when I break. My brakes don't squeak and I seem to have plenty of braking power...Any help is grateful...thanks..
I had that same exact problem, its either your lower ball joints...which are only $30 a piece, or your brake calipers which are $35 a piece....i had to replace both...and easy and inexpensive job.
I dont think its your ball joints or calipers. The problem is defintely a brake problem. The best answer is probably that your rotors are warped. When you apply the break your rotors heat up, and if they heat up enough the steel becomes weaker, allowing the rotor to go out of shape. So when you apply the brake, the pad is rubbing up and down along the rotor, causing it to shake.
I agree its the rotors, you can get them resurfaced at just about any auto store, but if you have the money just buy new ones, the problem should only be with the front rotors.
