I have a 2001 Cavalier 2.2L 4cyl. Recently it started to make a loud squeaking noise as I turn the steering wheel to the right (it's absent when I turn it to the left) and gets louder and faster as the wheel rotates faster. It happens upon acceleration and braking. Any ideas as to where the problem might be originating?

 

Welcome to the forum. I wouldn't be driving it unless I knew nothing was going to pop and take the transaxle with it. Either take it in for service or get under it and look things over.
