Garage Find
Hi All-
Possibly thinking of buying a 2000 Cavalier 2.2. Vehicle has sat garaged for many years and has an original 6K miles on it. Current owner ( my employer) put 4 new tires, fuel pump and a battery in it. Looking for advice on if i should buy this vehicle as my daily driver. Taking into consideration it is a 22 year old vehicle am i looking at a total crap shoot? Can anyone advise me about anything to look for before purchasing??
Thanks so much!
Melanie

I actually have one that belonged to my Grandmother that is a little older than that. It has had some occasional issues but nothing major. It didn’t come with any bells or whistles so not as many things to go wrong. Unfortunately all of them are different, so can never be sure.

Vehicles that sit for years w/o running always suffer for it. Although the speedo says "new car" mileage wise, it will need to be completely gone through to determine what has rotted, degraded, etc before becoming your daily driver

Buy it! I drive an 02 2.2 that I bought used from Hertz with 50K on it 20 years ago. It now has 160K and has been an extremely reliable car. Only repairs so far have been a fuel pump, water pump, serpentine belt and electric window motor, all of which I replaced myself for minimal cost.
As long as it runs, you're good to go. You should replace the brake fluid, change the oil (of course) and check the power steering fluid, replace the old coolant with fresh, etc.
Wish I could find a car like that.
