Default Get gas out of tank? 05 Cav

Hey all,
How do i get about a 1/2 a tank of fuel out of an 05 Cav without making it a major operation?

I parked the car about 1.5 yars ago after all the gauges stopped working

Now i want to get it running again, but i'm afraid to start it.....

Any suggestions?

Cheers, ian

I used a small hand pump that I bought from Harbor Freight for about $5.00. No electricity and no chance of a spark.

oldchevy,

Thanks for the reply,

If I can get the gas out, will putting fresh gas in solve the problem of starting it, or do I need to do anything else?

Cheers, Ian

The fuel lines will also have the old fuel in them. If the gas is really bad then they should be flushed out.

oldchevy,

Well it is Florida, I would assume the gas is like gum. LOL

Any suggestions? Are there any additives I could use to clean the lines, or will I have to blow them out with air? Not sure what to do

Cheers, Ian

You could disconnect the fuel line at the engine and run the fuel pump and let it pump the old gas out. Change the fuel filter after doing this.
