isn't it nice to know that you saved so much money doing it yourself and got it all back together and find a oil leak. today will be my 4th time taking the timing housing off. i'm with you, i am sorry i did this job it ain't funny.

Did you ever figure out why there is oil coming from behind the timing housing? I just been putting oil in mine cause i havent had the gumption to tear it down again after all my previous problems.

yes, it was the gasket behind the timing chain housing. Of course you can not buy that gasket by itself. this is crazy, but you have to buy the entire timing gasket set just to get that one gasket. I was lucky and bought the engine rebuild gasket set and talked to the manager at Advanced Auto and they replaced all the timing gaskets for me. YES, it is a pain in the butt to have to break it down again. The leak i had was pouring out, so unlike you i was unable to keep adding oil to it like you. I can tell you that i have learned so much doing this. i even found the cause of the head gasket blowing, which was the fan motor going out.
