Default Over Heating - 2000 Chevy Cav 2.2L

Okay Here's what i know about the issue.

Over heats when diven at "normal" city speeds and at long stop lights.
does NOT over heat when sitting idle in drive way for 30 min (not being driven, just crancked up and let it sit in drive way) or at highway speeds.
Fan kicks (6 months old) in as needed.
No leaks detected, replaced hoses just in case (2 days old). Still no leaks detected.
Oil is not discolored (oil change 1 month ago), no white smoke from exaust to indicate internal leak.
Have flushed the cooling system (1 week ago).
Dex-cool has not turned to "gel".
Thermostat is (1 week old)
When i replaced thermostat, i did notice not all the coolent came out.
The rest of the fluid came out when i removed the thermostat. It came
out as though a garden hose had been "unkinked".

my next step is to replace the water pump, which i hope fixes this issue.

However my hopes are low that this will work, seeing as though nothing else has. Any other inout/ideas on the problem would be great. Thanks.

if the water pump doesn't fix it, bypass the heater core. clogged heater cores will cause this on 2200 cavs
