Default 65 Chevelle gas gauge

Been broke a few years, needle is not visible in gauge.12 volts into gauge,8.25 volts out and 8.25 volts at tank sending unit plug at tank.Sending unit is new.Ohm check at gauge is 35 ohms, ohm check of sending unit with nearly full tank is 25 ohms. When I check the voltage at the gauge and rear plug behind seat, where the wire comes off the flat wire harness that runs along the floor board,I get about 3 volts. If I unplug the tank wire it returns to 8.25 volts.Any thoughts, broke gauge needle, bad gauge, bad sending unit? Thanks.

The needle fell off the gauge spindle.

1. Connecting the speedometer speed sensor to the transmission and the fuel gauge sending-unit to the fuel gauge required jacking the car up high enough to gain access
2. With the Classic Dash instrument panel partially visible on top, here’s everything that’s included. Notice all parts are neatly packaged separately and come with identifying tags. Also note a thorough assembly guide is included, making the installation of a Classic Dash gauge panel an easy, step-by-step process.
3. Observe the stock 1965 Chevelle dashboard arrangement is housed in a highly reflective chrome bezel with central emphasis on a clock, with idiot lights instead of proper gauges.
4. To avoid the startling situation known as “hot wire surprise,” the first step was to disconnect the battery.
