Default 76 400 sb.....

Hey everyone,
I haven't posted any thing here for a while, but I own a 76 Malibu Classic and was in the process of swapping the old, tired, 350 with a 400sb. I just thought that I would give yall a heads up on the project.
I got it installed with mild difficulties and noticed some thing wasn't right so I finally got it torn down yesterday and found that it has a bad piston (#5). Since the engine is bored 0.060 over I can't bore it out any more and I am thinking that the engine is dead. I have the old 350 and am thinking that I might use the 400 crank in th 350 to make it a 383 stroker. Just thought that I would let you know what is going on if any one wanted to know. I'll try to keep yall up to date better.

ahhhh.Old style turned down 400 crank stroker. You might want to window shop on line for a steel stroker crank. You might find by the time you cut and balance yours, those would be cheaper.Stay miles away from the brand name Eagle.Real junk being sold there.Scat isn't as bad,but does have issues.Everyone is going to the 6" rod over the 5.7.They work better with the stroker.Icon has a pretty good buy for the money and has a unique design with offset connecting rod pins to help with their forge pistons from cold knocking.Watch you static compression ratio with today's gas.Want to stay about 9.5 or less.Aluminum heads will drop that static C/R about 1 point. Here again Patriot Heads has a history of major issues.Buyer beware. If you want I have more info.
