Does anybody have any original published gas milage figures for a 1965 Malibu with a 283 (2 barrel carb) ? Anything close would be appreciated.Thanks.

My 1970 Chevy Nova with the 250 I-6 would do 22 MPG on the freeway, which was good mileage for the day. No overdrive, 3-speed turbo 350 automatic. Think it had 3.08 axle ratio. The Malibu was a larger car back then, with ladder frames, so they were heavy and gas-wars kept gas at .25-30 cents per gallon until the 1973 OPEC embargo doubled the price overnight.

My 68 El Camino with 327 & Powerslide would average 18mpg on a highway road trip.

Knew a guy that owned a 1975 FoMoCo Bronco. 302 V8 and three-speed automatic. Never topped 9 MPG no matter what, Now that's some bad gas mileage

My Jeep CJ-5 would do 15-16 MPG Highway and 12 MPG City.by comparison. 258 I-6 and Borg-Warner 4 speed manual granny low transmission, 3.55 axle-ratio.

this thread got me thinking about my first cars mpg....surprisingly my 84 fiero has better mileage rating than every car i have owned since. My first fill up with that car cost 18$...gas was 0.48cents/liter. I refueled my dodge pick up this saturday $160 and tank was not full!!
