The whole thing with ethanol gas really doesn't do much to daily drivers. I sometimes work at my friends boat mechanic shop and the ethanol can eat through gas lines and gum up cabuerators. This takes alot to see this and the main thing is just having that gas sitting there. But if it's a daily drivers you shouldn't have a worry.

If your vehicle has the 5.3L V8 engine (VIN Code Z), you may use either regular unleaded gasoline or ethanol fuel containing up to 85% ethanol (E85).

The 8th digit of your vehicle identification number (VIN) shows the code letter or number that identifies your engine. You will find the VIN at the top left of the instrument panel.

If your vehicle has the 5.3L V8 engine (VIN Code Z only), you may use either regular unleaded gasoline or ethanol fuel containing up to 85% ethanol (E85). In all other engines, including the 5.3L V8 (VIN Code T), use only regular unleaded gasoline.

Only vehicles that have the 5.3L V8 engine (VIN Code Z) may use 85% ethanol fuel (E85). General Motors encourages the use of E85 in vehicles that are designed to use it. The ethanol in E85 is a “renewable” fuel, meaning it is made from renewable sources such as corn and other crops.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact me.

Most Automobiles manufactured since the mid-80s can run E10.

So if you have an option (as we do in Idaho), filling up with gas that does not contain Ethanol is better for the engine??? I fill up at Costco here and I believe it has a sticker on the pump saying "may contain up to 10% Ethanol".

Ethanol is better for the engine and pollution (it burns slower and cooler + has a higher octane rating, E10 ~ 94 and E 85 ~ 100). My flex fuel suburban has seen a few tanks of E 85 and I never saw a mileage or power drop, in computer controlled engines, the timing and other parameters will adjust automatically, so, in reality you see little effect. Water Absorbtion and a shorter shelf life, is the worst thing about E fuels in modern engines, these are much improved in recent years.

Brazil is on 4+ decades of Ethanol usage and even have E 100. I run E 85 whenever available.

Again thanks all for the input, it's like louis says above, the 5.3s with the z code ethanol is fine... but mine is the t code. the manuel says no ethanol. i just don't want to do anything stupid...
