Which motor came with 1967 Malibu El Camino
I'm looking for info on an El Camino that had a "Malibu El Camino" logo on it. It's a 1967 Malibu El Camino. Every time I ask nobody seems to know there was such a thing.
Looking for anybody that knows about this specific model.
When I bought it it had a 307, 2 barrel 2 jet Rochester and 2 speed power glide. I have since learned that they didn't make the 307 till 1968. wondering what motor it came with in original form. Original color was Pearl white.

My 68 says Malibu as well. It has a 327 275hp and powerglide. My buddy had a 68 with 307 and powerglide. Huge power difference between the two. Assuming you have the car you should be able to look up the info off your vehicle id tag
I don't have the car anymore. Just curious about the "Malibu" El Camino. You are the first person that has responded to my requests on all forums and facebook.
So even when I look at pictures posted that have the Malibu tail lights with the 2 chrome strips on them they don't have the Malibu emblem on them.
I imagine the power difference isn't so much from 307 to the 327, but probably ta 4 barrel.carb vrs the 2 barrel on the 307? What do you think?
Also after 300,000 miles on the 307 I replaced it with a 350 still using the 2 barrel if I remember .
And the reason I went with the 350 is the 307 and 327 blocks where 100s of dollars more, the 307 being the most expensive.
So I wonder if the pics I saw with the Malibu tail lights just had the Malibu emblem removed?
Thanks for your quick response.

Ok, just went and looked - interior has Malibu emblems above the glove box and on both door cards. Also says Malibu on the steering wheel. Looking thru wheel at dash above PRNDL it says Chevelle.
Outside - Malibu emblems on front quarter panels between doors & wheels. Side lights with 327 emblems front quarter panels in front of wheels; El camino emblems in front of hood on drivers side and both rear panels near back. Chevrolet emblem passenger side tail gate. Used to have wood grain vinyl running center of tail gate; that's been gone for many years. I got the car in '77 in college, was my daily driver until about '90; has been parked many years witing for a full rebuild. Body is straight, minimal rust. About 360k nothing rebuilt yet. It was really fun to drive - floor it & the 327 would hold 1st gear until 60, then shift and jump right up to 90. If you were under 60 and punched it, would downshift to 1st - great for passing! Has the quadrijet. The 307 would shift at 40.

In 1967, the Chevrolet Malibu El Camino had several engine options available, with the more common ones being small-block V8 engines such as the 283 cubic inches and 327 cubic inches. Generally speaking, it is unlikely that the vehicle was originally equipped with a 307 engine which didn't appear until 1968. It is possible that the engine of this vehicle was replaced at some point in the past.
Late to this discussion, but back in the 70's to early 80's my mom drove a Malibu classic, and my girlfriend's dad drove an El Camino. I had my mom's car parked next to the GF's dad's El Camino more than once. The interior, dash, front end, and doors were all the same. Just the rear seat and trunk got turned into a pickup bed. At this point, I don't recall if the El Camino had any Malibu badging on it inside - it certainly didn't outside.
