Yes, I need parts. Lots of parts LOL. On the 283, if I can get close the 300 HP and 360 Torque I'm going to keep the 283.

300hp/360Torq
hello Kevin. . . My name is john & I've been working on the SBC for many years (50+yrs). . . The highest hp Chevy ever got out of that engine was 283hp, same as the cu in of the engine. It was in the corvette, 1957 1st, and was Mechanical Fuel Injection & others with 2-4bbl carbs. . . It was & is a Killer Motor. . . However, if you want to be able to drive it into town to get groceries, well, you can't have both. . . At least reasonably. . . It would be Much, Much simpler to bolt a 350cu in engine in place of the 283. . . An old 350/350 cam would work well & still be very driveable. Personally, i like the 400 Automatic Tranny from GM, they're practically bullet proof. . . And the Automatic Never misses a gear, Ever! LOL . . . If you wanted extended driving, then I'd look for a 700R that's been rebuilt with a 20% overdrive. . . I see from the pics that there's a QJet intake on the 283. . .
