1986 K10 Scottsdale 305 carburetors

Default 1986 K10 Scottsdale 305 carburetors

It runs OK carb has been rebuilt. Idles high or low whatever it feels like at the time. I'm not a carburetor guy, but I think I can put a new choke on it. Any suggestions? Thanks

Welcome to Chevy! More details please - are you saying it surges faster/slower, or sometimes runs hi, other times low? Is it tied to operating temp?? How's drivability??

Welcome from Florida. What condition is the mechanical fuel pump in? Is the fuel filter clean?

Have to pump pedal 3-4 times to crank. Idle can be high, low or good after cranking, no surges. If idle stays high then it runs on after I cut it off. And choke indicator light blinks sometimes when I cut it off. Operating temp is good. Drives good after warm up.

I haven't checked the fuel pump or filter. Valve cover gaskets leak, so I'll check those when I replace gaskets. Thanks

You could start by checking that the choke is working as designed. Example: is the choke coil working and has power to it, does the choke pull off work and is adjusted correctly, is the linkage free. Just a thought .
